In August of 2005, John and his partners put together an expedition to the most famous shipwreck in the world, RMS Titanic. They chartered the Russian Research Ship Keldysh, and had the MIR submersibles take them 12,500 feet below the surface of the Atlantic to explore and document the wreck. Their work was featured on the History Channel special Titanic's Final Moments – Missing Pieces. This award-winning project was a first for John and his long time dive partner Richie Kohler in that they worked both in front of, and behind the cameras. They produced the program with their close friend, Emmy Award winner Kirk Wolfinger. Another Titanic program, and a third program on Titanic's sister ship, Britannic, soon followed as did another bestselling book, this time by author Brad Matsen, titled Titanic's Last Secrets. TLS was published by Twelve Publishers.

Working with the Hawaiian Undersea Research Lab (HURL), John again worked with Kirk Wolfinger on another NOVA special in 2009. This time the subject was the Japanese midget submarines that attacked Pearl Harbor. HURL operates the two Pisces submersibles that carried John and the rest of the NOVA crew to the Pacific seabed, where they documented the mystery of the last midget submarine for "Killer Subs In Pearl Harbor".

Currently, John spends much of his time in the Dominican Republic. Along with his good friends and partners, John Mattera and Tracy Bowden, they operate an underwater survey and salvage business out of Samaná, where they are working closely with the Ministry of Culture on an exclusive government contract to locate colonial era shipwrecks.

When not diving around the world, John and his lovely wife Carla make their home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but still maintain a house in Harpswell, Maine. Back...
